My dream holiday

This time I'm writing about my dream holiday and the cities I would like to visit. Because in my dream holiday I don't want to visit a particular country but I would love visiting six metropoles in different countries. I was thinking of Beijing, Caïro, New York, Rio de Janeiro, Sydney and St. Petersburg.

First I want to go to New York city, by airplane of course. I've never been to New York before, but I think it's great being there. In New York I want to visit the Empire State building, the statue of Liberty, the MOMA, Times square and Central park. Most of the time I will travel by underground, because I think it's very convenient.

 

After New York I will go to Rio de Janeiro. Rio de Janeiro is famous for its festivities around carnival and that's the main draw for me to go there, to experience this. But I also want to visit the huge statue of Jesus Christ, it's known all over the world and I would love to see it in real. Besides these things I don't know much about Rio, so I will just see what comes my way.

Thereafter I would like to go to Caïro, the biggest city of Egypt. During my stay in Caïro I definitely want to visit the pyramids of Gizeh, I think it would be great to experience a tour through the pyramids. I also want to see the mosque of Al-Azhar (this mosque is on the UNESCO World Heritage list), because I would love to give a look at all its arches and it's beautiful details.

After the continent of Africa I will visit Sydney, Australia. The reason for me going to Sydney is the opera house and I would really love to attend an opera in there. I believe it is fantastic to listen to an opera in such a building with such acoustics. Of course I will also go to the Harbour Bridge and Bondi Beach, this is a such a famous place and I just want to be there once.

The next city I will fly to, is Beijing. No doubt about that I want to see the Chinese wall and the Forbidden city, I believe these places are very special and I would love to visit them. I don't really know what to expect within the Forbidden city, but I hope it's fantastic. Another sight I definelty want to give a look at is the Altar of Heaven, because I think it is decorated very nice.

The last city on my trip is St. Petersburg. My grandmother visited St. Petersburg a few weeks ago and while she was showing her photos the idea came in mind that I wanted to go there as well. I think the buildings with their torrets and their domes are beautiful and of course I want to visit the Hermitage. Besides these things I would also love to attend a ballet in the Mariinsky theatre, their dancers are good in their profession and it is said that it's great to experience such a performance.

This is my dream holiday, but it's very expensive, so first I have to make some money to affort it. But I have time enough, because I want to make this trip at the age of twenty-six together with my family or good friend. I would prefer to stay in each city for one week, so six weeks in general. But maybe I will stay two weeks in Sydney, one week for the city and the other week to relax on the beach!
